Before you rely on an estimate
ImportChecker is useful for planning, but it does not make a binding customs decision.
Your final bill can change if the goods are classified differently, the origin evidence is not accepted, or a fee applies that is not priced in the calculator.
Things to check
- Product classification
- The exact national tariff row can change the duty rate.
- Origin evidence
- Trade agreement rates may need documents proving where the goods come from.
- VAT or GST treatment
- Some products can be exempt, reduced-rated or treated differently.
- Other fees
- Brokerage, processing, port, inspection, excise or agency fees may still apply.
When to get help
Get advice from a broker, customs authority or tax adviser if the shipment is high value, the product is regulated, the rate seems unusually high or low, or the estimate affects whether you place an order.
